Curiouser and Curiouser

Can't believe I forgot to put this up; I finished it back in July.

This was my mum's belated birthday/mother's day gift. She LOVES Alice in Wonderland, so I made this for her. The design is what happens when you get bored in a Greek History course.

The majority of the fabric was from scraps that sent me (THANK YOU!). The fabrics NOT from that are: blue & green border fabrics; Alice's skin, lips, dress, and apron; some of the whites (which were from old linen curtains), and the flamingo's body.

Squares (L to R) by Rows (top to bottom):

Row 1: the rabbit hole, the cheshire cat's grin, and the "Queen of Hearts" square (red dagger-like triangles and a black heart).

Row 2: the singing/talking flowers, the "chessboard" layout from "Through the Looking-Glass," and the mushrooms (one will make you shorter, the other will make you larger!).

Row 3: From "The Walrus and the Carpenter" (the sun was shining on the sea....and this was very odd because it was the middle of the night), the tea-party and Mad Hatter's Hat, and the Tweedles.

Row 4: "Do you play croquet?" (flamingo and hedgehog), Humpty-Dumpty's wall (obviously he's fallen), and a good chunk of the poem "Jabberwocky" handwritten on a "scroll," with some talons having ripped it



Hand-applique and machine quilting.

Designed and quilted completely by me.
